Electronic Inspection System In Schools Rolled Out In Masaka

The government has activated an electronic inspection system for schools to monitor what goes on in the school. As he handed 5 Galaxy tablets to school inspectors, Mr Ronald Katende, the Masaka Resident City Commissioner said this will elevate performance in schools.

These tablets are embedded with in-built monitoring tools and software to enable e-inspection.

The digitized inspection is done with a tablet equipped with two tools; a teaching/learning observation and head teacher’s management tools.

“We understand there are some teachers who are always absent in some of our government schools. With this tool, the problem will be eliminated,” he said

He made these comments during the official release of the 2022 Primary Leaving Examinations for Masaka City Schools earlier today.

Also known as the Integrated Inspection System (IIS), the new electronic inspection system came to light in 2016. Over 1,000 government schools spread across 46 districts in the country received the system.

After the installation of the system, all the inspector had to do once at the school was to enter the school code and information about what happened at the school would be displayed.

The new system will aid in consistently analyzing data and easily generating reports as well as disseminating information on time.

With the old system, inspectors could send hard copies of reports to the district and later the Directorate of Education Standards. After all of this is when National school inspection reports would be compiled.
