Apparently, there was a captured footage where a victim was put on knife point and took off with his phone. However, the CCTV cameras were able to help police capture a one Julius Lutalo.
He was arrested and is apparently with police helping to track down other members of his racket.
“We are taking interest in a gang of boda boda riders that moves in groups of two to three and they go while armed with knives. They attack who ever has a phone and he or she is talking on it in the evening,” said police spokesperson Fred Enanga during a security briefing in Kampala.
Enanga therefore warned the public to desist from using phones at night while traveling.
“We therefore want to warn the public to be alert and if possible always to avoid talking on phone under the cover of darkness on the road. This is because you can end up loosing your life,” said Enanga.
For this reason, police is strongly behind the process of registering boda bodas. This will help them track down criminals who use the bodas to commit crimes in the City.
Bodaboda registration
Meanwhile In separate news, boda boda riders showed discontent with the ongoing registration process in Kampala. The Minister Of Kampala along side the RCC came out and gave an order to register for all Boda Boda riders.
However, the whole process and money they were asking in this registration left money riders disgruntled and disappointed in the government.
