Kampala RCC Defends Boda Boda Registration Exercise Amidst Questions From Riders

Boda Boda riders have showed discontent with the ongoing registration process in Kampala. The Minister Of Kampala along side the RCC came out and gave an order to register for all Boda Boda riders.

However, the whole process and money they are asking in this registration has left money riders disgruntled and disappointed in the government.

Anderson Burora, the RCC Rubaga Division has however said that this is for their own good an the country. He says most boda bodas are not even in the right condition to carry passengers so this exercise will sort them.

“This rationale aims to separate boda boda riders from other motorcycle riders. And to also assure passengers that the boda boda rider they intend to use is qualified and tested. The master plan is to make sure we define who a boda boda rider is and also safeguard the passengers.”

“Not every motorcycle as it is now is fit and supposed to carry passengers. Statistics have it that boda bodas have claimed more lives than vehicles,” he added.

Apparently, the registration fee is Ugshs 65,000 for every Boda boda. According to a number of people, this fee is very unrealistic.

Apparently, it’s extremely high considering the economic situation in the country. This is one reason why Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago is dragging the Minister of Kampala and Kampala RCC officials to court. He says what they are doing is very illegal.
