Veteran female musician Sophie Nantongo has added her voice to those that have already been made by other musicians about explicit music. The singer said that this tarnishes a musician’s brand. It should be noted that the industry is currently filled with these songs deemed explicit.
According to the Kisumuluzo singer, people will dance to such music but they are also equally shocked at the same time.
A time comes when they get tired of such songs and ignore you. And since the damage has already been done, there is nothing that can be done about it.
She went ahead to state that musicians are allowed to go ahead with such songs because music is now business. Besides, she rallied people especially the youth not to learn only the negative things from social media.
“Music is now a business and artists will do all the available things to thrive. However, I want to state that people are also always shocked at these lyrics despite dancing to them. Eventually, they will drop this music and your brand will slide down the drain. I also want to implore young people out there to learn positive things from social media. Stop faulting it for bad things because there are people there doing impactful stuff,” she said.
Additionally, the singer was asked by a reporter if she knew that singer Sheebah Karungi is pregnant. Sophie said that if this is true, then she is happy for Queen Karma.
According to the band singer, it’s an honor and privilege to become a mother, especially in the music industry.
