Former MUBS guild president Lenia Kevin Charity has switched from the National Unity Platform (NUP) to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM). This followed two of her posters making rounds on social media.
One showed her running for the 2023-24 MUBS guild presidency under the NUP. She came in a close second behind the eventual winner, Christopher Wasswa. The other poster shows that she will be running for the Vurra parliamentary seat under the NRM.
This has seen her come under heavy fire, especially from the supporters of the NUP. Lenia Kevin has however also been congratulated by the NRM supporters saying that she has come to the winning team. She decided to address this issue.
According to her, those who support NUP may feel betrayed which is understandable. However, her commitment is to serving the people of Vurra, she feels that through the NRM, she will accomplish this. Besides, she said that she’s glad she’s joining the NRM.
Additionally, she said that she won’t engage in any negativity or personal remarks against her critics.
“Some of you may feel betrayed. I understand and appreciate your loyalty to @NUP_Ug. However, I’d like to assure you that my commitment to serving our Vurra community remains unwavering. I’m willing to listen and learn from your perspectives, and I hope we can find common ground.”
“I’m proud of my decision to join @NRMOnline,and I’m excited about the opportunities it brings to amplify my charity work in avurra constituency. I won’t engage in negativity or personal attacks. Instead, I’ll focus on delivering results and making a positive impact.” she added in another tweet.
