Four New Truck Drivers Test Positive For Covid-19 In Uganda

Ministry of Health has confirmed 4 new truck drivers whose samples tested positive for covid-19 yesterday (12/04/2020), bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Uganda to 126.

Among the four cases, two are Ugandans, one Tanzanian and one Kenyan citizens. The Ugandans and Kenyan entered the country via Elegu entry border point whereas the Tanzanian got tested at Mutukula border entry point.

The new cases were among the 1,478 samples of cargo truck drivers who were tested yesterday by Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI). All 233 community samples have tested negative for COVID-19. Total samples tested yesterday are 1711.

Ministry of Health in Uganda has so far tested over 10,000 cargo truck drivers.

The way cargo truck drivers are being tested, identified and tracked in case positive cases are discovered has caused more fear among Ugandans thinking that they will easily spread the deadly virus.
