Muntu said Uganda has good laws, therefore he said the Judiciary should be left to do what is right regardless of interference by other state organs.
He further said it is only the Judiciary where Ugandans have hope so for Judiciary to retain that respect, they should be objective.
Gen Mugisha Muntu made these remarks during a press conference at the party head office in Kampala on Thursday. His remarks followed the President’s denial of scrapping bail for people who are on capital offense.
He said the judiciary officers like other Ugandans are not above the laws of this country. This indicates that they will definitely be answerable for whatever they do while executing their duties.
More still, Muntu cited the problem of this country and the entire African continent being the failure to do what is right, because the laws exist.
‘’As it’s a principle of this world, you harvest what you sow and lies are faster but not consistent while the truth is slow but wipes away lies very fast,’’ he said.
Muntu said just like other African countries, Uganda has a culture of instant gratification by the educated class.
These hold offices over individual benefits than national interests. He said this culture has persisted since independence, it only changes actors.
