The State Minister for Information and ICT Peter Ogwang while addressing the media claims foreign journalists operating in the country are biased in their reporting. Especially when it came to elections. He however didn’t mention any media house due to professionalism. However, he clearly stated that not only was this affecting the tourism industry, it is also problem to the investment sector.
Ogwang claimed that the international journalists never at any one point approached sources from the government to ascertain the claims of the opposition side especially during election period. By all means this means that these journalists reported unbalanced news. They made one side appear the villain and the others look like angels.
Currently, there is a battle on twitter between some socialites and a one Jeffrey Smith who is an international journalist. He has jumped on the train of making sure the MAMA awards don’t happen. According to him, Uganda is unsafe.
Whether the government is right or not, Ugandans should have it in mind that its only us who can solve our issues. We have seen examples of countries that engaged super powers and how they ended up.
