The legislator also said that this Parliament is not what he envisaged. According to Hon Nsibambi, a whole house of elected MPs can’t spend 5 days discussing who abused who.
He termed this as mockery. This was in regards to the MPs decision to impeach Mityana Municipality MP Hon Francis Zaake as the Commissioner of Parliament after he insulted the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon Anita Among through his social media handles.
“This is not the Parliament I expected to find. If we don’t get serious, people will beat us up at burials. You can’t spend five days discussing who abused who. This is a real mockery,” Hon Yusuf Nsibambi said while appearing on the NBS Eagle.
The FDC Cadre also had his thoughts on the rumors that the first son Muhoozi is in line to contest for the presidency.
“I don’t have any problem with Muhoozi contesting for President because, like any other Ugandan, he is eligible. My only issue is that all these drone things and torture are always linked to him. That’s what people are worried about,” he added.
MP Barnabas Tinkasimire who was also on the show said that President Museveni is still energetic to rule for more 12 years. Tinkasimire added that hopefully Muhoozi doesn’t become president.
“President Museveni is still energetic, and he can still be President for close to 12 years. That’s like two more terms, making it 50 years, and Muhoozi also wants to be a president? God forbid.”
Tinkasimire also said that the NRM has neutralized the Opposition and bought them off. He however advised government to stop giving government projects to people brought in from the Opposition.
Meanwhile, Hon Nsibambi said that Museveni has been able to fulfill his promise of crushing the Opposition. He has done this through his brother Gen Salim Saleh who invites them to Gulu.
Museveni a few years ago said that for 10 years the country won’t have any opposition.
