Kasumba through his Twitter page had earlier posted a boastful tweet about car ownership. According to Kasumba, the high fuel prices have exposed the haves and have-nots.
Further, he said that some people decided to drive after seeing others driving. The fuel prices are however helping to sieve through two categories of people, the real ones and the wannabes.
Kasumba even pleaded with authorities to hike the fuel prices to about 10,000 shillings. And they will still drive cars because they have to defy poverty reminders.
“Some people drove because they saw us driving. Now we shall know those who were supposed to be on the road. Have you also noticed that since the fuel hike, rogue driving has come down? Bring the thing to 10k we shall still drive cars. Defying anything to remind us of poverty,” Kasumba tweeted.
This is not a tweet that went well with the public due to the economic crisis going on. Lots of insults and disagreements rained inside Kasumba’s comment section.
Martha also expressed her distaste towards Kasumba’s tweet. She said however much she has much respect for him, he was misusing his position.
According to Martha, while some people have the privilege to navigate the economic hardships, most are languishing in dire need.
Therefore, as people with positions of influence, their role is to help find a solution for those suffering.
“Samson, while I have deep respect for you..this tweet is disappointing. While some have the privilege of going on with life, majority are deeply affected by the hike in prices. As the privileged, our job is to offer a helping hand and not celebrate their misery. Humility is free,” she replied.
And guess what, the man refused to pick a lesson or word of wisdom. He defended himself by saying that not a single person is not affected by the fuel crisis.
Kasumba said that he knows this. And probably since he claims to be a Bible theologian, he might have been speaking in parables in his earlier tweet.
