His radio program dubbed ‘Ekirya Atabala’ on Bukedde FM catalyzed his quick rise to popularity. Many in his constituency saw him as the solution to their woes.
He was consequently elected on the NUP ticket, dislodging FDC’s Mubarak Munyagwa from the seat. This energy, however, wasn’t transferred to Parliament and he’s been so silent.
It was from this that allegations started rising on how he was in bed with the NRM. While breaking ground for the new NUP offices in Bwaise, located in Kawempe South, Bobi Wine seemed to hint on Kazibwe Bashir’s defection.
His silence on this issue has greatly damaged his political reputation. Many think this will be his last term in Parliament. The MP however has now attempted a late move to cleanse his name.
He said that the regime especially Museveni and Saleh are fond of tainting one’s name especially when they are exposed.
He pointed out the NSSF saga which has ‘caught up and down.’ Apparently, Kazibwe says that this is definitely what was done to him. The essence of this was to make him lose popularity and make his supporters think he was in bed with the NRM.
“After exposing these crooks, the likes of Salim Saleh and Museveni. They always try to character-assassinate you so that you lose popularity just as they tried character-assassinating me so that my supporters start thinking I am in bed with the NRM government,” said Kazibwe Bashir.
A run through his social media comments however shows that he’s definitely lost it. Kazibwe Bashir also at one time almost got beaten up by market vendors in his constituency.
They accused him of the same reasons for winning and dining with the regime. It was only the lord mayor, Erias Lukwago who saved the situation by asking him to exit the meeting.
