Even so, some people in these areas never got to see that food. So instead of food, this time round, they will be giving out Ugshs.100,000 to vulnerable homes.
Before we even, get to the point of giving out money, how are they defining vulnerability. Right now, most of the people are not working because the country is under lockdown.
Teachers are at home, business men and women are at home too. So how are they defining the vulnerable type. Fact is, most of Ugandans need this Ugshs100,000 right now. Is the government ready for this?
When it comes to the system that is going to be used, some people don’t even have phones. Worse still, some people registered their numbers in other people’s names. How is that going to be handled?
This means some people are going to miss out on this money due to these small details. The prime minister has said though, that for those without phones, they will receive vouchers.
In any case, this would be a really good idea because it deletes the use of middle men who may take advantage.
However if it is handled poorly, it is going to throw government in some losses because they may have to put in more. Since they are working with telecoms though, we want to believe, they will be organized.
