Of the Seven Ugandans nominated in the 7th edition of the African Music Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), only James Onen (Fat Boy) of RX Radio emerged victor. These awards ceremony took place in Dallas, Texas on 15th November 2020.
Themed ‘Destination Africa’, the awards had in its lists the likes of Eddy Kenzo, Sheebah Karungi among others. These artists were nominated in different categories.
The list comprised of Africa’s music big names with international hits. Burna Boy, Diamond Platnumz, Aya Nakamura, Sauti Sol, Davido, Master KG, Ali Kiba, among others topped it.
James Onen a.k.a Fat Boy won the Best Radio/TV Personality award, putting him ahead of any radio show host alive in Uganda in 2020.
In the Nominations
Eddy Kenzo, Sheebah Karungi, Vinka, Keko, Sasha Vybz and Masaka Kids Africana all had hopes dashed when they failed to win an award.
Eddy Kenzo performed on the night of the awards ceremony that happened virtually on 15th November. Master KG took home the biggest awards for his song Jerusalema. James Onen a.k.a Fat Boy saved Uganda the shame of walking home empty-handed.
With this award, Fat Boy has proved himself as the king of radio. No one, I repeat, no one can come and start claiming this title. At least not when the RX-Radio CEO is still in the game.
