According to Jica head of programmes Fukase Yutaka through the “5S-CQI-TQM” project, JICA has been supporting quality improvement of infrastructure management and health care service delivery in Regional Referral Hospitals. With regard to infectious diseases, JICA have supported MoH in terms of response to both Ebola and COVID-19. JICA, therefore, understands deeply the necessity and urgency of the matter. It is indeed JICA’s pleasure to collaborate with MoH.
“As such, JICA is determined to support MoH’s tireless efforts and dedication to prevent and control infectious diseases,”Fukase said.
The donation consists of medical surgical gloves, coveralls, sanitizers ad face masks.
Health ministry Permanent secretary Dr. Diana Atwine commended jica for the generous support saying this will scale up commodity supply in rural areas where there is current need.
The first confirmed case of COVID-19 was detected in Uganda on the 22nd of March, 2020 and the disease continued to be a pandemic across the world. It is JICA’s sincere hope that the assistance provided will enhance the important activities of the frontline health professionals in Uganda.
JICA also expresses its deepest condolences to those in the world that have lost their lives due to COVID-19, and wishes all patients in Uganda a speedy intervention.
