Betty Nambooze, Woman MP of Mukono Municipality has accused journalists of unprofessionalism in their delivery. Nambooze said this regarding the way some journalists were reporting about the explosions that happened today.
According to her, most of the journalists clearly didn’t know how to report without implicating anyone.
She said it is so unprofessional for journalists to report about security deployment and in places where they have been deployed.
She expressed her disappointment in those who even go ahead to show faces of investigators who are supposed to remain incognito due to the nature of their work. Betty Nambooze says probably journalists now days don’t know what to do.
She is not the only one who complained about the unprofessionalism of journalists. There are so many prominent people who expressed their disappointment in journalists who seem to be veterans but their work is the opposite.
“Lots of irresponsible reporting even from experienced journalists. Not good. Not now,” Allan Kasujja wrote.
“This is what we know…”
“It’s not yet clear…”
“We have not independently verified…”
A polite reminder for #JournalismUG” Peter .G. Mwesigye advised.
Some people went ahead to advise journalists to go for refreshers courses in journalism.
Meanwhile, some put this bad reporting on the need for journalists to be the first to break news. Apparently, every journalist am media house wants to be the first to break a story without caring about getting the facts right.
