Apparently, yesterday happened to be a graduation day at the Mariam Ndagire Film and Performing Arts Centre.
Mariam Ndagire honored a couple of veterans in the entertainment industry who have added a stone to the industry. Among these was Ebonies director, Dr Bbosa, Minister Balaam Barugahara and Juliana Kanyomozi.
These were awarded with honorary certificates. Speaking about the Nabikoowa singer, Ndagire said that she’s the definition of talent, passion and resilience. Her records have inspired thousands of people and therefore she needs to be recognized.
Reacting to her honor, Juliana said that she was very excited because Mariam Ndagire is one of the people she’s always admired in the industry. Therefore, a recognition from her means a lot more than a title.
The Sanyu Lyange singer went ahead to applaud the singer/actress for recognizing people while they are still alive. She said that even others should pick a leaf from that and start rewarding outstanding people.
“I’m really delighted to be recognized by Mariam. She’s a true icon in our industry and I have always looked up to her. I think we should also pick a leaf from her and start awarding outstanding people when they are still living.”
Meanwhile Juliana also talked about her career. She said that she hasn’t retired from singing but only put the foot on the brakes to venture into other things she has always wanted to do. The singer also talked about her YouTube podcast which hosts a couple of singers.
The singer said listening to people’s stories has always been a passion of hers. Asked if she can take a media job, the singer said that she can’t because it’s controlling.
