The Kampala lord mayor, Erias Lukwago has revealed that he successfully underwent a surgery in India. Taking to his social media, the politician provided an update about his health status to his followers. He said that he was glad to be out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Lukwago said that he had been battling for his life at the Fortis Memorial Hospital in India as he underwent this surgery. However, gladly for him, he managed to recover from it unscathed.
“Glory be to the Gracious Lord whose mighty Will made it possible for me to wake up from the operation theatre and the Intensive Care Unit of Fortis Memorial Hospital, Grugram, India where I spent several hours battling for life,” said the lord mayor.
It should be noted that Lukwago a few days ago was flown to New Delhi India to undergo spinal surgery. Apparently, Lukwago was referred to India by Mulago Hospital’s Spine Surgeon and consultant Orthopedic, Dr Nobert Orwotho.
In a medical report dated April 13th, Dr Orwotho said that Mr Lukwago required spine surgery and this had to be as soon as possible. Lukwago is expected to spend close to a month in India as he recuperates.
A while ago, the lord mayor was diagnosed with C6-7 cervical discopathy. This is also known as C7 nerve root. It’s a herniate that happens in the cervical; spine.
The effects are usually pain, numbness, and tingling in the hand and middle finger. Since this diagnosis, the lord mayor was put on several medications such as painkillers but hardly got any relief thus opting for further treatment.
