Boda Boda Registration; Rubaga Kicks Off Process

Rubaga division has spearheaded the race to sensitize boda boda cyclists ahead of the ambitious zonal reorganization of the industry in Kampala. The Resident City Commissioner for Rubaga division Anderson Burora said the registration is to protect the industry from infiltration of suspected terrorists and criminals.

Cyclists gathered at Busega on the first day of sensitization. They were also sensitized about the opportunities that come with their registration.

KCCA has also set June 31 as the deadline for the registration of the cyclists

Today also witnessed the first sensitization meetings in Rubaga and dozens of cyclists endeavored to show up in big numbers.

“With the registration of boda bodas, it will help in the fight of crime,” Burora said.

Furthermore, under the zonal reorganization, they will restrict cyclists to their areas of residence. Cyclists in each of Kampala’s five divisions will also have a reflector jacket with a colour code, a photograph of the cyclist and a security code.

Some of the cyclists and users in Rubaga welcomed the new development saying it will weed out criminals from the industry.
