Charles Peter Mayiga, the ‘’Katikiro’’ of the Buganda kingdom has asked government to investigate the fire incident that burned St. Bernard Secondary school in Manya, Rakai district.

“On behalf of the Buganda Kingdom, i send my condolences to the families of the ten students that lost their lives in such unfortunate circumstances at St. Bernard secondary school Manya. I would like to encourage the survivors of this fire plus the school administration never to lose hope and the country is with them in such a hard time.” Said the Katikiro.
According to some of the survivors narration. “Someone threw a bottle inside the dormitory out of nowhere and then boom, there were huge flames of fire.”
The ‘Katikiro’ went further to urge law enforcement to work tirelessly and make sure the culprits are arrested, put before the judge and punished accordingly.
The police spokesperson, Emilian Kayima has earlier said that zero arrests have been made so far following the fire, but investigations are ongoing and six people so far have been interrogated including three teachers and three students, but none was taken in.
Unknown Reports earlier had indicated that fellow students had done such a merciless act, however, such allegations are not yet confirmed.
The police spokesperson added by saying police sent a team of RPCs across schools in the entire country so as to enforce the safety guidelines that were passed in the aftermath of the Buddo Junior school fire in 2008.
