However, it’s still an intense time in Kenya as IEBC concludes on a few things. In fact, one of the presidential candidates in the race, David Waihiga Mwaure, conceded defeat yesterday.
Amidst all this though, emotions are high among the Kenyans plus the candidates especially Raila Odinga and William Ruto. The voting process commenced on 9th August 2022.
It’s almost a week since then and just as the Kenyan constitution demands, nothing can be said until a week has passed. However, the peace exhibited so far has been very nerve-calming for the whole of East Africa.
Some political activists though think it’s too early to talk about peace in Kenya. This is because most of the time, Kenyans have had issues after the announcement of results. Due to this, all fingers are still crossed until the results are finally declared.
The only difference is that the incumbent president is not part of the race this time round, which has probably contributed to the calmness in the whole process.
Since the beginning of this election, opposition here has been crying to the current government and Electoral Commission to pick a leaf from this process.
Media has been operating freely, social media has been functioning and stations have been broadcasting love without any threats. At least for now, the Kenya Elections have portrayed maturity.

Meanwhile In similar new, Former NBS Journalist, Joseph Sabiti, told those who are praising Kenya to first hold up. People especially from Uganda have been praising the unshaken peace in Kenya even in the midst of elections.
Ugandans have been urging the president to pick a leaf from how free the presidential candidates are in Kenya. None is under house arrest. The internet in the country was also not tampered with.
