Kenyan Drug Trafficker Faces Life Imprisonment In China

The 44 year old Kenyan drug trafficker identified as Mbavi Wambua who worked as a farm labourer back home in Kenya, has been subjected to life imprisonment in Chinese jail.

Mr Mbavi will join thirty other Kenyans failing to progress in China over several crimes.

14 days back, China’s Intermediate People’s Court in Guangzhou Municipality found Mbavi guilty of trafficking drugs in his stomach into China.

According to the court documents, the Chief Judge Peng Hu together with his fellows Huang Jian and Wen Fangdao found the Kenyan drug trafficker with cocaine of about 947 grammes in his stomach and decided to subject him a life imprisonment.

It seems he’s lucky, he didn’t face a death penalty because the cocaine he had was less than a kilo.

Mbavu was naïve regarding drug trafficking. Mbavi’s prolonged experienced started 25^th November 2018, after landing in Chinese territory from Ethiopian Airways.

Since it was his first time to travel to China, Mbavi had a valid visa, a return air ticket and a detailed plan of what exactly he was going to do in China.

Therefore, since there’s no bilateral agreement between China and Kenya to exchange prisoners, he is most likely to spend the rest of his life in a Chinese prison.
