Kenyan man only identified as Jackson built himself from a struggling journalist to a millionaire businessman, investing in bicycle shipping business from the UK to Kenya is truly a success.
During an interview with Jeremy Damaris, the sharp businessman disclosed that his success is attributed to the fact that he has been in the business for more than 10 years.
The Kenyan man explains how he managed to transform the business into one of the biggest importers of bicycles in Kenya.
“I was a journalist before, then started the business in 2012. In the initial stages, I was only importing bicycles in small scale,” he started.
After a period of time, Jackson says he realized that there was a market for bicycles he needed to service.
The Kenyan man started with only 3 bikes
The more bikes he sold the bigger his clientele base grew, and he quickly figured it out was time to quit the media industry and focus on business.
“I started with three bicycles, then moved to 10, before I knew it I was bringing in 100 then a 20ft container,” he recalled.
At the moment, the Kenyan man imports bikes up to 40ft containers, sometimes including other items like microwaves and fridges.
He revealed that God gave him the idea, of the fact that he always loved riding bicycles with his family members since early age.
Jackson has three warehouses
From 3 bicycles, Jackson now owns three warehouses in Nakuru whilst in Nairobi he sells them to wholesalers.
This Kenyan entrepreneur is already successful despite going through challenges like a weak Kenyan shilling against foreign currencies, and the harsh tax regime.
He says he comes from a humble background and he used to do unskilled jobs.
