The Kenyan Rugby players Lawrence Frank Wanyama and Olaba Alex who were on Thursday last week found guilty of gang raping female musician have been sentenced to 15 years in jail.

According to the mitigation and all evidences, the Milimani Chief Magistrate Mutuku Martha said a judicial sentence would be suitable.
The woman whose names remained anonymous accused both Kenyan rugby players of raping her at night during her birthday celebration which took place on 10th February 2018 at Seefa Apartments in Nyayo Highrise Estates in Nairobi.
She become pregnant after the incident and she allegedly said one of the rapists threatened to kill her if she tries to report the matter.
Before their sentence, Wanyama and Olaba were told to pay KShs500,000 each as cash bail, after denying the case. Their lawyer Simiyu Wafula said his clients were unable to raise that amount since they are university students.
Today on Friday, Mr Wanyama and Mr Olaba have been sentenced to fifteen years in prison.
