Vihiga County Police has launched investigations into which a secondary school Kenyan teacher took his life on Sunday evening by setting himself on fire inside his house.

According to Vihiga County Police commander Mr Barua Hassan, the victim identified as Mr Ingoro Daniel, a Geography and Biology teacher at Hobunaka Mixed Day & Boarding Secondary School in Wekhomo village in Vihiga County was just about to retire in the next 6 months.
Mr Hassan said the victim was spotted buying gasoline from the nearby fuel station. He reportedly locked himself inside his house and set it on fire on Sunday evening.
The Kenyan teacher who reportedly divorced his wife four decades ago and never married again committed suicide in a suspicion connected to depression.
Eyewitnesses informed police that Mr Ingoro bought gasoline and decided to lock himself inside the house before setting it ablaze,’said Mr Hassan.
Hobunaka Mixed Day and boarding Secondary School headmaster Mr Sunguti William said the whole school experienced a serious shock.
On Friday afternoon, we had a staff meeting where Mr Ingoro was chosen to lead the opening and closing prayers and after the meeting he went back home without showing any signs of depression, ‘he said.
He was described as a hard working, quiet and reserved man who shared his issues with only very few friends.
