Kenyan Truck Driver Who Arrived Via Busia Border Tested Positive For Coronavirus

Other two new cases of COVID-19 virus have been confirmed in Uganda and among the victims is non other than a 35-year-old Kenyan truck driver who arrived via Busia border entry point.

The second victim is a Ugandan male from Masindi district, who was confirmed yesterday during the rapid assessment survey that the Ministry is conducting to establish community transmission of COVID-19.

However, these two cases came up after the President of Uganda coming in to agreement with the other 3 East African presidents. They basically agreed to allow truck drivers give in their trucks to Ugandans at the boarders.

The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Diana Atwine has just concluded her visit to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital as part of her activities to assess COVID-19 response in the region. Currently, there is one COVID-19 confirmed case undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The hospital is also in the process of constructing a separate isolation unit to manage COVID-19 suspected and confirmed cases.
