Kids Entertainment Book Speaking Out On Covid-19 Launched

Uganda’s first edutainment book published to inspire and empower kids has been released. The book will help children to speak out on the Covid-19 crisis and its impact on their day-to-day lives.

Renowned Ugandan author, Rehmah Kasule, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, has published the Kids Voice book titled: Zara & Mika Lead Positive Life Change in their Community

The book features a collection of stories for children around Uganda. Through these stories, children between ages 8-13 share their views and life experiences during the time of the pandemic.

The book also has some fun activities that allow children to engage with exercising gratitude, reflection, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

This will help the children to build resilience in coping, surviving, and thriving during times of difficulty.

The book, published in hard copy, e-version, as well as audiobook, came to be published through the ongoing Mastercard Foundation Covid-19 awareness Campaign. The aim is promoting resilience and recovery among communities in Uganda.

Commenting on the book, Kasule, Founder and author of Kids Voice, she said it’s a delight to publish the book. She revealed that a few months ago, the book had been only a dream.

‘’This book gives our children an opportunity to tell and share their unheard Covid-19 stories and experiences with their peers and the world,’’ she said.

Through the book, children share stories of courage, resilience, hope, curiosity, and entrepreneurial spirit, which will surely inspire others.

Covid-19 has affected millions of school-going children. Save the Children is a global not-for-profit organization that champions the rights and interests of children worldwide.

It estimates that around 10 million children may never return to school after the pandemic.
