Music duo of K&K Music formerly known as Kataleya and Kandle have been summoned to Police over accusations of criminal libel. Apparently, libel is described as “the act of publishing a statement about someone that is not true and that gives a bad impression about the person”. It is usually contrasted with slander, which refers to a spoken statement that is not true.
However, the Police summons was issued to only one member of the group, Kandle. They told her to report to the Regional CID Office at Jinja Road on the 4th of July.
The singer is being accused of slandering Theron Music to which they formerly belonged. The Onsanze Ndaba singers were signed to the company which brought them to the limelight but fell out early this year. They went into a period of silence and reprised their music career back but in a rebranded fashion.
Read a part of their address below;
“Firstly, we have been receiving calls & texts from unidentified individuals who made many unlawful threats to us. Some were illegally holding out as Music Promoters desiring to book us for shows in Masaka. However, according to our understanding, we should have received formal Police summons prior to being intimidated, tracked & receiving threats.”
Additionally, they said that their tormentors have been using CMI and Flying Squad in their unsuccessful attempts to get to them. And with these means failing, they have now turned to legal and lawful measures.
They went ahead to assure their cooperation and will present themselves to the legitimate police authorities. They will truthfully provide a statement regarding the malicious allegations against them.
The singers also said that their accusers are in a futile bid to intimidate and stifle their legitimate music business and livelihood.
