Lilian Mbabazi Given 10 Days To Pay 16M Rent Arrears Or Face Jail

Veteran songstress, Lilian Mbabazi is on the verge of being sent to jail for failure if she fails to clear her rent dues. It should be noted that the singer was in the news last year over the same issue.

However, the lawyer of her aggrieved landlord said that by then, she owed 26m shillings. Even with all the hustle and noise, she managed to pay 10m shillings and a remainder of 16m is yet to be paid.

After paying the Shs 10m, she requested permission to be let out of the house. She shifted to a new place and pledged to pay the remainder in 3 months.

This grace period elapsed in December. Apparently, the Vitamin singer always received reminders to clear this outstanding balance. Shockingly, when the three months elapsed, she blocked those who were demanding her and since then, she’s made no attempts to pay back.

This forced the landlord to run to court which served Lilian with court papers. She further refused to pick up the documents resulting in sending them to her virtually.

Despite all this, she’s made no effort to pay this money. The landlord therefore wants the court to force her to pay.

Where did Kenzo’z UNMF come in?

During the first phase of being demanded this money, the singer seemed to have gotten a helping hand from Eddy Kenzo’s Uganda National Musicians Federation. It however seems the help wasn’t enough to offset this huge financial burden.

Lilian who used to belong to the girl singing trio of Blu 3 is one of the most talented singers of our time.

She was even married to the late singer Mowzey Radio and they had two kids. Sadly, Radio’s wealth that he left behind enough to support his kids has been mismanaged.
