Listening To Museveni Speak Is An Insult To Our Intelligence- Advocate Gawaya Tegulle

Lawyer and retired journalist Gawaya Tegulle has said that listening to President Museveni speak is an insult to the country. And for his case, he finds it very difficult to listen to the President speaking.

He therefore always stays away from his addresses to stay sober. This is the reason he won’t even bother listening to the president’s address on Sunday about the rising prices of commodities and fuel.

“I find it very difficult to listen to President Museveni. To stay sober, I keep away from his addresses. I find him an insult to our intelligence, so I will not listen to his Sunday address,” Tegulle said.

Furthermore, Gawaya said that national interest should always be at the forefront of every government decision. Thoughts should be about making the world conducive for the generations to come.

“National interest must be kept at the forefront of every government decision. We should think about our children and grandchildren’s future. We need to leave them in a country that works for them. And, we need to fight these stinks as a country,” he said as he appeared on the NBS Morning Breeze program.

Gawaya Tegulle is clearly not a fan of the regime after having dealt with some of its ‘injustices’ while he was still an active media personality.

The most popular incident is in 2007 which even cost his job at the National broadcaster, UBC. Gawaya hosted the then FDC president Dr Col Kiiza Besigye.

This was without informing his MD Musinguzi Mugasa who also lost his job because of this scenario. Gawaya’s bosses were instructed to stop the show immediately but this didn’t happen.

In his narration, he didn’t see anything wrong as he was acting within the UBC parameters. And besides, he had hosted all the other party bigwigs including NRM without having to first get consent.

This incident however got him fired out of the TV premises. Worst of all, he was fired as he vacationed in the US.
