Magufuli Fires Water And Irrigation Minister, Dismisses Board

The water and Irrigation minister, Hon Kamwelwe Isaak fired Mr.Mwangingo Romanus who has been the acting Chief Executive Officer of water and Sewerage Authority ( Dawasa ) in Dar es Salaam.

Hon Kamwelwe and president John Pombe Magufuli conveyed agreement, and also dismissed the board of directors of Dawasa.

The above decision happens after forgery and embezzlement which occurred during the implementation of Kimbiji and Mpera water project worth Shs18 billion. The water project which required the drilling of 20 boreholes with the volume to manufacture 260 million litres of safe and clean water, was built in Kigamboni district, Dar es salam.

While at the press conference yesterday, Hon Kamwelwe said the designation of the acting Chief Executive Officer was cancelled and it’s board of directors were dismissed to create a smooth investigation into huge forgery and embezzlement.

Too much corruption in building these water projects!

The decision was focused at fighting and preventing of corruption Bureau ( PCCB ) to speed up the process of investigation,’’he said. According to Hon Kamwelwe, Dr. Masasi Sufian has been named the acting chief executive officer of Dawasa until further notice.

Submitting his documents 2018/19 proposals last month in Dodoma, Hon Kamwelwe told parliament that the building of 15 were completed in March 2018. However, the construction of the remaining wells is in progress.
