Man Murders Grandmother Over Shs20,000 Misunderstanding

Nazigo Town Council woke up to a shock after a young man gruesomely murdered his grandmother over a misunderstanding of shs 20,000.

The suspect has been identified as Richard Ssesanga while the deceased is Christine Nambi.

Ms Hellen Butoto, the Ssezibwa Regional Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident. She added they are on the hunt for the culprit. They will charge him with murder and face legal action.

The incident happened after the suspect asked to withdraw shs 20,000 from the phone belonging to his grandmother. When the old woman declined, Ssesanga reached for a hoe which and hit his grandmother’s head, killing her instantly.

‘The suspect sought the victim’s phone to withdraw Shs20,000, but when she refused to hand it over, he grabbed a hoe and fatally hit her on the head leading to her death’, Ms Hellen Butoto said in an interview.

Butoto added that Police had visited the crime scene and recorded statements from eyewitnesses. She added that they have taken the body of the victim to Kayunga Hospital for an autopsy.
