Man United’s Antony Matheus Releases Statement About His Domestic Abuse Allegations

Manchester United and Brazilian winger Antony Matheus dos Santos has released a statement via social media in regards to the domestic charges labeled against him by his ex-partner, Gabriela Cavallin.

As a result, the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) has now dropped him for the upcoming football matches. In a statement released, the Federation said that this was done to enable investigations to go on and also in respect of the victim.

“In order to protect the alleged victim, the player, the Brazilian national team and the CBF … (Antony) is withdrawn from the (squad),” the CBF said.

Ms Gabriela says that she dated the footballer for two years. And it was during those two years that he inflicted bodily injury on her.

One incident happened at a nightclub in Sao Paulo. Another happened in Manchester and was evidenced by her friend and the footballer’s mother.

Meanwhile, the United player has denied any wrongdoing. He said that he won’t comment about this since it’s being investigated by Police but he’s innocent.

“Since the beginning I have treated this matter with seriousness and respect, providing the necessary clarifications before the police authority,” Antony Matheus said on Instagram.

“I can confidently state that the accusations are false and that the evidence already produced and the others that will be produced demonstrate that I am innocent of the accusations made. I trust that the ongoing police investigations will demonstrate the truth about my innocence.”
