United took the lead early in the game as Romelu Lukaku scored a deflected cross from Ashley young at the back, post before Chris Smalling fired in a rare volley from a defender when the ball fell directly to him from a corner.

Andre gray pulled one for the hornets after the hour mark and Nemanja Matic was given a red card after two bookable offences, but Manchester United held on to record a second win on the bounce away from home.

Watford has been impressive at home coming into this one on the back of a boosting win over Tottenham two weeks back meaning they had won their first four league games for the first time in 30 years.

Manchester United needed this win!

But the visitors started off stronger with having not to wait too much longer for a goal, as Ashley Young’s deflected left wing cross was touched by Romelu Lukaku at the back post to continue his recent goal scoring form.

Shortly after that, Pogba unleashed a fierce 25 yard shot which was clearly headed for the top corner before Ben Forster made superb save and from the resulting corner Smalling chested the ball down and fired a hot volley into the roof of the net.

Matic was then sent off in injury time for a second yellow card after bringing down will Hughes, before David DeGea made a last finger tip save to deny Doucoure from the resulting free kick. Manchester  United now switch attention to champions league on Wednesday.
