Marvel has recently announced the release of a new comic that they say is based on an alien story. The company has set a date within March 2021 for the release. This is the first original Marvel comic book series based on the Alien Movie franchise.
The minds behind the new comic are Phillip Kennedy Johnson of DC’s The Last God and Salvador Larroca of Marvel’s Star Wars. Johnson said in a statement that he was excited just as a reader and a fan when he heard the franchise was going to Marvel. They honored him when they asked him to go and write for Marvel.
‘’I’ve been training my whole life for this gig without knowing it. Ever since seeing Ridley Scott’s Alien at way too young an age, I’ve been obsessed with the single most iconic representation of terror on film,’’ Johnson said.
Dark Horse Comics published a number of titles. This includes the publisher’s final series, Alien for over 30 years prior to Marvel taking over the comic book license for the Alien property. In April 2021, Marvel will publish Alien’s Aliens Omnibus Vol.1. This is a hardcover collecting a number of Dark Horse’s earliest Alien releases. The new series will thereafter officially launch in March.
