One of the doctors from Uganda Cancer Institute at Mulago referral hospital, Dr Kafeero James said  that so many Ugandans die of cancer simply because of coming late for cancer treatment  in both private health centres and in government hospitals.

Doctors like myself first talk to patients to be able to know where exactly they have been getting their treatment, but in most cases we get to know that most patients who die it’s as a result of taking herbal medicine and visiting witch doctors who claim to cure cancer and yet it isn’t tue,’’ Dr Kafeero James said.

Herbalists and witch doctors have false beliefs.

Kafeero spoke about this at St.Daniel Comboni Senior Secondary School at Napak district where the cancer awareness program was held. Mr Ikara Ben the program coordinator of Uganda Child Cancer  Foundation ( UCCF ) also revealed that witch doctors have misled people by telling them they can get cured of cancer under their false beliefs.

Am warning all young and old people to stop risking their lives by putting their trust in herbalists and witch doctors because the country keeps on losing it’s people,’’said Ben.
