Medlink Lab Donates Covid Test Kits Worth $213,000

In a bid to scale up covid-19 prevention services, Medlink lab and surgical limited has donated covid test kits to ministry of health. This is to increase covid-19 medical intervention to the refugees and host communities worth 213,000Us dollars.

Mary Muthigan Medlink managing Director while handing over the donation to minister of health appealed to other private sector to support the cause. She said covid still alive and general public should take precaution to remain safe.

“The donation is to further motivate the plight of refugees. It will also help host communities as support government address challenges of covid pandemic. We believe that by extending this support ministry of health and partners will be able to conduct screening of refugees in conflict zones and neighbouring countries and respond to covid.

She however clarified that the covid test kits will also be  used for malaria, tb, hiv/aids, hepatitis, syphilis and other non Communicable diseases.

Philip Okello, Humane Africa Mission chairman Board of directors pledged to support government. This will be on covid data collection to ensure those tested get treatment and effective results.

What is being done;

“Medlink lab and Humane Africa Mission will make efforts to create equitable access to medical diagnostic and surgical supplies from reputable manufacturers. This will ensure the correct test results and increase volume of test in the country,” Okello said.

Recently Medlink lab and surgical limited contributed 25,000 Covid19 test kits to government to scale up medical interventions.

Humane Africa Mission is local NGO that provides humanitarian support in education, health, agriculture and environment.

Currently Humane Africa Mission is working in partnership with United Nations High commission for refugees. This they are doing to implement refugee response in Lamwo and Kiryadongo districts in Northern Uganda.

I was informed that I needed to have a business with a capital of Shs4m yet my capital was very small.” The chairperson Kisoboka Saving Group in Nawandala Ms. Nakagolo Faith said they were not able to join the program. This is given the many conditions attached. She also asked their woman MP to raise their concerns to the relevant offices. The MP condemned the mode of implementation of the program. She cited that it has turned to benefit the well-off class of women other than the intended group. She further asked the government to intervene saying the current strings attached to the programme are very tight to accommodate a common woman. GROW project is a Government of Uganda initiative that arose out of the need to respond to the needs of women entrepreneurs. This is especially those who want to grow their businesses, sustain their self-employment and create more jobs.
