The politician said that it’s really terrible as an employer to have a University graduate who can’t write a simple business letter.
One communicating a clear company plan of action and business strategy. He added that this is their experience as employers and it’s really troubling.
“Imagine having some university graduates employed and can’t draft or write a simple business letter communicating a clear company plan of action and business strategy….. This is our experience as employers,” said Mike Mukula.
The education system in Uganda has been blamed for quite long. It’s more theoretical than practical. In other words learners are taught for the sake of passing exams and not actually real life lessons.
Schools are all enveloped in being rated the best performing schools rather than imparting life changing skills.
Despite all these complaints, plans to revamp the education system have been so sluggish. This has largely contributed to the high levels of unemployment in the country.
There are many graduates at different levels than the available jobs. And those who can’t find jobs don’t even have any other skills to emancipate themselves.
