According to Bebe Cool he bought 22 GBs of data worth Shs 50,000. But in the blink of an eye, the data had run out without him using it to do anything.
According to him, he tried to engage them on a mutual basis but they failed to respond. He has therefore decided to handle the issues legally. It was from here that he served Airtel with a demand notice to sue.
How it all started
The Wire Wire singer says that he opened his TikTok application for not more than 5 minutes. Apparently, the data usage did not even exceed 300mbs before he put the phone on charge to prepare for a Zoom meeting.
However 2 and a half hours later, he got a notification from Airtel saying that he was remaining with 5.6 GBs. That means he had almost used 17 GBs which he disputes because his phone was inactive.
Bebe Cool also said this incident hindered his Zoom meeting and therefore he has to incur travel expenses with his team for a physical meeting in Lagos.
According to the Gagamel boss, this is unjustified self-enrichment and a breach of an agreement between the subscriber and the telecom company.
Therefore, the singer wants a usage chart of his data to be availed to him during the specified period. Additionally, he also wants his unused and stolen data to be refunded. Besides, he wants Shs 100m as a refund for the travel expenses suffered by him and his team.
Furthermore, the Kasepiki singer said that he also wants Shs 100m as compensation for the inconveniences caused to him in that time frame.
Many people have since come out to add their voices to this in order to get justice from these telecom companies.
A lot of people have over time complained about the speed at which these bundles run. It’s apparently not just Airtel alone but also MTN that people complain about.
Recently another singer, Azawi also complained about how Airtel had drunk her data like a thirsty man. She was also one of those who seconded Bebe’s plan to sue Airtel.
