However, young people on twitter have instead made a joke out of it by creating accounts in Kony’s name and constantly tweeting what one can call nonsense.
Mordecai Muriisa expressed his disappointment in such acts saying people are choosing to be funny in uncalled for events.
“This goes beyond disheveled thoughts that jump onto everything. It’s cretinous, a clear example of a sloth generation that’s choosing to be inconsiderately funny even in situation where it shouldn’t.”
If you checked in twitter today, you would find about 10 accounts opened in the name of Kony or his apparent girlfriend. Most times, people who do this just want to get followed on social media and make relevance a certain way.
Unfortunately, even when the matter is serious, some young people don’t really care about the impact of their actions.
So what does this communicate? This means most young people will do just about anything to get noticed on social media. Is social media now defining young people that following them and trending is a big deal?
