Security has since said the deceased person happened to be a suicide bomber who targeted over 50 passengers in the Swift bus.
Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga addressed journalists on Monday, 1 November as more details on the incident had emerged.
He said they identified the deceased as Isaac Matovu also known as Muzafaru. The ADF rebels had trained him in carrying out suicide attacks.
‘’We have since established that Matovu was trained as a suicide bomber by ADF. In Butambala where he hailed, his behavior was weird. He used to complain that they left him alone after the death of his brother in an accident,’’ Enanga said.
The police spokesperson further said that security believes there are many other youths the ADF indoctrinated into carrying out suicide attacks. He also warned the public to be vigilant as they have not solved the threat from its root yet.
He also revealed that joint operations by the Joint Anti-Terrorism task force (JAAT) with other bodies in the past week have arrested 48 suspects. Authorities believe they have a connection to the attacks.
‘’The arrests will help us get more information about the attacks but also a positive step in fighting the terror cells. The arrest will give us more information on all people involved in the bomb attacks,’’ Enanga said.
He noted that the operations targeted individuals and cells belonging to the ADF.
