Veteran Afrigo Band singer Moses Matovu has given an update about the allegations that he left the Uganda National Musicians Federation headed by Eddy Kenzo.
This Federation came with fire and a lot of zeal a few months ago. It’s however fair to say that this has died down with several of the founding members walking out on it. Among these is Spice Diana and Moses Matovu.
Just like the Siri Regular singer, Matovu cited his busy schedule. Afrigo band will be having a concert on the 5th of August at Kampala Sheraton Hotel dubbed ’Legends of Sound Concert.’ Legendary Congolese singer Awilo Longomba will be performing at this concert.
In regard to the federation’s business, Matovu said that headlines of him walking away are not true. However, he believes that the Federation didn’t comply with the right procedures in order to better the music industry.
He believes that there are policies that the government should have followed. For example, both the veteran musicians and new ones are bundled together.
Furthermore, the singer said that there is a lot they know that the new singers don’t know. Therefore, they should have been consulted separately and not hurdled together. This has even resulted in disagreements.
“I didn’t leave the Federation. Those are headlines created by news reporters. I have just been busy with our upcoming concert. However, I believe there are many things wrong with the Federation. For instance, the government should have followed several procedures.”
“There are veteran singers and new ones in the Federation. I’m not saying that we the veterans know a lot but I think we should have been consulted separately. Now there is a lot of divisiveness in there.”
