Mps Start Registering For Security Beef Up As Timidity Threats Continue

News coming in indicate that members of parliament ( MPs ) both on the ruling and opposition side have started registering to secure armed cars and bodyguards.

This follows claims made by honorable William Nzoghu (Busongora county north, FDC) who said that he’s life is on the line. He said that he has noticed Unknown  people following him for quite a while now also adding that on more than one occasion he’s sighted strangers around his residence.

“I think we’re slipping into a situation whereby nobody knows what’s going to happen next, I would like ministers of security, internal affairs and defence to assure me of my security” he said.

It should be remembered that this is the second lawmaker in just one week to complain for he’s life. The most recent one being Mbale district woman MP connie Galiwango, who also revealed that unknown people have been trailing her since the month of August.

The NRM representative told the house that her life together with her children are in danger boldly stating that if a saloon car whose number plate remains a mystery has been following her and on one particular attempt blocked her entrance to her own gate.

“My sight is not too good and I’ve failed to identify the number plate. At first I mistook them for other normal road users until I continuously saw the same car on several occasions trailing me on Thursday to Mukono where I had gone for my businesses,” Galiwango said. She added that she has tried to record a police statement, but she’s yet to succeed claiming officers told her to seek for personal security and acquire a second car for camouflage.

Right now I’m pleading to the internal affairs minister to come to my rescue because I and my family feel insecure and cannot acquire a second car simply to camouflage,’’ She added.

MPs worried about the ongoing killings!

In response to the Wednesday plenary, the speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga assured MPs that parliamentary commission is taking certain measures to ensure their safety due to the recent number of high-profile murders in the country and advised insecure MPs to register immediately for security beef up something majority have positively responded to.

It should be remembered that such tensions have come about due to the recent high-profile murder of former Buyende district police commander, Kirumira Muhammad being the latest victim.

The murder of Kirumira comes after that of arua municipality MP Hon. Ibrahim Abriga who was shot dead in cold blood together with his bodyguard in June 2018 near his home in kawanda
