The MTN expo is officially on and smoothly running as the telecom company is celebrating 20 years anniversary doing business in Uganda.

The expo which is taking place at the Kololo Independence grounds opened on Friday that’s the 19th Oct and expected to conclude on Monday 21st Oct. The minister for ICT in Uganda, Frank Tumwebaze officially opened the expo and he praised MTN for the positive impact the company has portrayed for the past 20 years in Uganda has been greatly welcomed by the people.
“I congratulate MTN Uganda upon making 20 years in this country through easing communication and encouraging innovation for a long time. 20 years ago the licensing sector wanted new players in the game and 20 years later we expect better quality services and dependable.” Tumwebaze said.
MTN was introduced in Uganda when a successful phone call was connected between the late Nelson Mandela of South Africa and president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and since then, MTN has never looked back on it’s journey in the business market of Uganda.
Reports states that the telecom giant has over 11 million customers in Uganda only and this expo is expected to show people the things MTN Uganda has achieved in the 20 years journey.
It’s also believed the telecom company will celebrate it’s history, but heavily focus on improving the future among those testing a car without a driver.
Mr Wim Vanhellepute, the CEO MTN UGANDA said “however much we celebrate the past. Much emphasis should be put on the future since it evolves night and day so we have to be focused.
The expo will show people of what MTN UGANDA wants to achieve in the coming future.”
“Future telecom companies will influence several sectors in the economy not just phone calls” Mr vanhelleputte added.
