Apparently, a number of tourists have cancelled their trips to Uganda due to the fact that Ebola is on the rise. However, the president says, tourists have nothing to be afraid of.
“I have been informed that some tourists have cancelled their visits to Uganda, postponed hotel bookings and some international conferences cancelled. This is unfortunate and not necessary.”
“I would like to reassure the tourists, international community, conference organizers and Ugandans that the government has put in place measures to control the outbreak,” he added.
Throughout his address, Museveni emphasized the need for people to be vigilant. Out of 146 districts, 6 have registered cases of Ebola. However, Museveni says of people don’t stop living carelessly, the country will be in for it.
He had commended the progress in Mubende and Kassanda because of the reduction of cases in these places.
“I want to thank the people of Mubende for their determination to end this epidemic. However, the outbreak is not over, and we need to put in more effort.”
On this note he warned, Boda riders to really endeavor to follow directives. In Mubende and Kassanda Bodas were stopped from carrying people and advised to stick to cargo. However this was ignored apparently. The president said if they don’t change, they will be done away with completely for now.
