Today, before president Museveni left the 4th Infantry base in Gulu where he had interfaced with officers and men of the division, he met with a delegation of the leadership of the Communist Party of China from the Jilin Province.
The delegation, led by the Secretary, Mr Bayinchaolu, are in Uganda to visit the NRM leadership, holding benchmarking talks, exploring the historical ties, studying existing challenges NRM must deal with, but also the bountiful of opportunities to tap into.
As I have said before, the populations of China and Africa are at the crux of any efforts towards socio-economic development through trade,’he said.
It is therefore important for both people to identify areas with comparative advantage to bring about balanced trade, giving attention to the basic requisite linkages like infrastructure.
I welcome their expression of interest in textile, tourism and automobile assembly. Uganda is the right place, and this is the right time. As Uganda Airlines starts operations soon, we shall suggest to have at least one direct flight to Guangzhou every week, to facilitate trade,’said Museveni.
