It was yesterday on Sunday, 3rd June 2018, when once again his Excellency the President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the former FDC president, Dr. Kizza Besigye Kifefe shared a cozy happy moment, a sign that shown harmony between the two parties. All this happened while appearing at the Uganda Martyrs Shrine Namugongo.

This is the third time, the two are shaking hands since 2000, when they parted ways and on 28th November 2015 when President Museveni shock hands with his former personal doctor turned rival for the first time in 15 years since two parted ways in 2000 when Dr Besigye, who served as President’s personal doctor in the Bush War.

The two fierce political rivals met at Uganda Martyrs’ Shrine at Namugongo during the mass led by Pope Francis. The historic handshake drew excitement among thousands of Christians at the shrines, which was a sign of negotiation.
A day later, Besigye described the Saturday historic handshake, as the recognition that he has been defeated. This was the that proved there is hope for the two enemies to interact again.
