President Museveni’s Daughter Seeking To Drop Husband’s Name, Divorce Rumours Gain Ground

Latest rumors indicate that Diana Museveni Kamuntu, President Museveni’s youngest daughter ‘s marriage might be on the rocks and is seeking an amendment to change her name.

The 42-year-old is married to Geoffrey Kamuntu. In a notice issued to NIRA, Diana expressed the need to drop the name Kamuntu.

A notice dated September 29th, 2022 showed that she wants to instead adopt the name Kyaremera.

“I intend to formally and absolutely renounce and abandon the use of the name Kamuntu and assume and adopt in place of that name the name of Kyaremera,” a statement released by Diana read.

This, therefore, points to one thing, the marriage is on the rocks and might soon be dissolved. Some sources say that the couple have been living separate lifestyles for some time now. And despite efforts from different people to salvage the 18-year-old marriage, they have proved fruitless.

Diana and Geoffrey who got married in 2004 share three children together, two girls and one boy. She’s the lesser-known daughter and more camera deficient among the Museveni children.

While speaking to a local magazine some time ago, she revealed that she met Geoffrey at the house of her sister, Natasha Karugire. Geoffrey was a close friend of Edwin Karugire.

The two soon became very good friends turning into lovers later on. Although it was not love at first sight for them, Diana said that she was attracted to him because he was tall and good-looking.

Meanwhile, Kyaremera is the name of her great-grandmother and the one she was given while being baptized.
