This is the reason his interest lies more in foreign policy than domestic one. It’s the reason many diplomats and refugees flock to the country according to Rwomushana.
“Mr. Museveni is more interested in foreign policy. His survival or downfall will be more in foreign policy than domestic policy. That’s why you see many diplomats and refugees coming to the country,” Rwomushana said.
And true there have been growing concerns on why priority is given to foreign investors than the indigenous ones.
Lots of incentives are given to these foreign investors who at times are even conmen disguised as investors.
While addressing the coffee deal, Mr Museveni a few weeks ago told Ugandans not to scare away foreign investors but instead encourage the local ones, that is in case they are there.
Charles Rwomushana also addressed the ongoing crises in the prices of basic commodities. He said that this is brought about by international dynamics but it’s also happening in other countries.
“Prices are high, but we still have supply. Prices are high because of international dynamics. We address this issue because we are stable. This is happening in many other economies,” Rwomushana added.
The former ISO intelligence operative also tackled the controversial coffee deal by the Ugandan government with Vinci Company.
Rwomushana said that Museveni passed this law because he wants to politically control coffee. He is doing this by determining everything pertaining to the crop.
“What is the strategic interest of Mr. Museveni in coffee? He has passed the Coffee Law. What is the intention of the law? He wants to politically control coffee. He is going to determine who grows coffee, who processes coffee and who exports coffee.”
Further, Rwomushana added that Museveni is looking for ways of maximizing foreign currency. This is the same way that the ‘deep state’ is controlling other sectors of the economy like fishing.
