The Unavailable singer revealed that he quit school to pursue a music career. This was new to his family lineage and he’s in fact the first entertainer from his bloodline.
However, the move wasn’t welcomed by his father since his family is so strict on education. His dad owns a University and his mother is a college professor.
Davido made it clear that his priorities lay in the music industry and not academics or business. He therefore made a deal with his father.
This was to see him spend two weeks of the month in class and two weeks in the industry.
Slowly by slowly, he started becoming big and his father had always known about his music potential.
It came to a time when he was no longer welcome to class. He had become a big musician and was now a distraction on the school campus and the teachers didn’t want to deal with this drama.
Therefore, he now had to part time as a learner on a programmed schedule where he was alone.
Meanwhile he was now a big star on the continent and his billboards were everywhere with promoters looking for him. But his dad would cancel these shows because he was skipping school.
Consequently, promoters became afraid of booking him in fear of ending up in losses.
His turning point came when he released a hit song that became big not only in Nigeria but the entire continent.
This even saw the Nigerian president at the time use it as his caller tune. Eventually his father let him off since he had proved that he can be musically successful.
Currently, the self-styled 30 BG OBO boss is one of the finest African singers. He’s released countless hits such as Jowo, If, Banana, Dami Duro among others.
Davido has also graced some of the biggest stages in the world. Despite coming from an incredibly rich family, the singer is a very selfless and kind-hearted man who has helped several rising stars in the industry.
