My Ministerial Appointment Is Big Boost For Art Industry – Balaam Barugahara

Last night saw President Yoweri Museveni make a cabinet reshuffle in which events promoter, Balaam Barugahara was appointed minister. Speaking after landing the job, Balaam said that his ministerial position is going to be a big boost for the arts industry.

It should be noted that Balaam started out as an events promoter many years ago. Slowly by slowly, he built an empire from scratch and is currently one of the biggest events promoters in Uganda.

All the time meanwhile, he developed close ties with the ruling government. And currently he’s one of those close to the first son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s PLU movement.

Apparently, Balaam will be serving as the Minister of State for Gender, Labour and Social Development (Youth and Children Affairs). He went ahead to say that this appointment was a sign to show that the President is happy with his efforts in the PLU movement.

“I thank the father of the nation, President @KagutaMuseveni, for appointing me Minister of State for Gender, Labour and Social Development (Youth and Children Affairs). I also congratulate all the other appointed members of Cabinet. The appointment is a vote of confidence in me on behalf of my first unit, MK Army, the MK Movement now Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Bunyoro, and the patriotic youth of Uganda.

It is also an appointment for the art industry (artists and promoters) and the business community of Uganda.”

Balaam Barugahara said that he’s appreciative towards his role model, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba. This is because he identified, nurtured and mentored him. He’s therefore looking forward to working with the President.

Furthermore, Balaam also pledged to serve Uganda in a patriotic manner, listen to the youth and their concerns, engage with them, mobilise them, and empower them towards bettering themselves and improving their lives.

Other key changes in the cabinet and army.

Meanwhile, this was not the only surprise appointment in this reshuffle. Gen Wilson Mbadi was appointed the Minister of State, trade, industry and cooperatives.

He’s formerly been serving as the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) of the Armed Forces. Museveni replaced Mbadi with his son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

Several ministers were dropped such as Mary Gorreti Kitutu who was one of those at the centre of the Karamoja Iron Sheets scandal. Vincent Sempijja was also dropped from state defense minster.

He was replaced by Markson Jacob Oboth. Agnes Nanduttu was also dropped. Most of the veteran ministers were retained in their jobs.
